This is the perfect shoppers paradise. After Hong Kong prices have gone completely crazy and Singapore was never really cheap at all, this is still the "bargain basement of the world".
Worth buying: Clothing in all qualities from cheap as cheap can to good quality up to tailor made silk attires.
Silk. Also availalbe in more colors qualities than you can imagine.
Handycraft: From stone to woodcarving over to (again) anything you can do with fabrics, especially silk, you can't go wrong.
Dining is great in regards of quality and value offered. If it has to be, you can also live well on non-thai food, especially in the western hotels. Food is safe to eat - just start slow with the chillies or you're in for some tears.
Hotel prices are a steal. I would say comparable hotels in Europe or the US would cost between 2 and 3 times as much, if they would exist at all. |
