Of all Uzbek towns I think Bukhara is the most well-known and visited place - indeed, it has a lot to offer - wonderful ancient madrassahs and minarets, well-preserved citadel, lively markets with loads of bargains and the most delicious bread I've tasted in Uzbekistan. Take your time and spend at least two days there - and make sure you have the time to stroll around its quiet streets in the evening - its safe and the walk is well worth it. |
