Oh my...this picture could sum up Seattle, but the weather for the rest of our trip was unusually hot (in the 90's!) and sunny. My sister lives in West Seattle which happens to be a great part of the city. There is a water taxi that charges $1 to cross to downtown. You get off by the Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppe at the base of the Market. Take the stairs to the top and start eating!
West Seattle is home to Alki Beach which is a very great place to hang out. When you sit on the beach, you have a great view of the mountains as well as the city. There are many restaurants to choose from and places to rent rollerblades or bikes to ride on the trail along the water. West Seattle also has a great market called Metropolitan. You can pick up a great picnic lunch or drop $20 on a gigantic bottle of Chimay beer for a bonfire on the beach.

• Cons:Water Taxi only runs until 11 PM and only in the summer
• In a nutshell:A great place to visit for the day for a diversion from the city.
