April 2005 - A weekend with Salvador Dalí Philadelphia seems to be under-appreciated among my friends: back in 2005, when I first told them I was going there (mainly to visit the outstanding Salvador Dalí exhibition at the Museum of Art), I mainly got blank stares. It seems everyone has gone to New York, Washington or Boston, or can conceive someone would want to go there, but Philadelphia is a big unknown. This, of course, only motivated us more to find out what there is to do in what is still the sixth-largest American city. What we found was an interesting mix of history, art and Amish. |

September 2007 - King Tut scavenger hunt By 2007, we had taken up the hobby of geocaching, and the folks at the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation came up with a "King Tut Treasure Tour" for the King Tut and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs exhibition at the Franklin Institute. Needless to say, we did another Montreal-New York-Philadelphia overnight bus trip to complete the King Tut geocaching challenge and take in some more of the city's attractions. |
