I visited Prague in 1994, 2005 and 2008 and it was really interesting to see, how the city has changed in these 14 years. Now, there is a much happier atmosphere than in 1994, the city is restored in a beautiful way with a lot of nice details to discover in every corner. Now, there is a very lively and international atmosphere, so many restaurants, cafés and bars have opened their doors. There are countless art galleries. The big disadvantage of Prague is that there are too many tourists and somehow I had the impression, that the centre of the city lost a bit of it`s peculiarity. 11 years ago, you didn`t find everything written in English; and it was much more easy to find a restaurant with traditional czeck cuisine. Nowadays these specialities disappear and are replaced by international food you can get in every corner of the world. Don`t even think that Prague is a still a very cheap destination - this might be true only in the suburbs. In the touristic areas the prices were increasing constantly. |
