My home town

by YolandaC - last update: Oct 13, 2005

Calgary is primarily known for two things, the Stampede and the Winter Olympics, however over the last ten years Calgary has morphed into a city offering much of the same things the larger cities in Canada do. Calgary is a wonderful combination of cosmopolitan and outdoor playground. It is possible to take a daytrip into the Rocky Mountains and be back in time for a nice dinner at a five star eating establishment.

Prince's Island Park - Summer fun

This is a picture of Prince's Island Park with part of the Calgary's skyline in the distance. Prince's Island is a great place to hang out during the summer months, street performers, geese, wading pools, bars, dining, and funky shopping, and bike paths...a favourite among Calgarians. The annual Folk Festival is held on this island.

Calgary in the evening hours

Calgary downtown skyline at night. Calgary is a vibrant city at night, especially on the weekends in the summer months. Some places to go either for dining, strolling, latte's, live music or full-tilt partying are Kennsington, 17th and Stephen Ave Mall.
