The building of Le Meridien with the new park
The building of Le Meridien in Budapest was used as a headquarter for the Budapest Police through decades.
It has been fully rebuilt and refurbished some years ago and became from an ugly old building (even though it was listed as a historical building for ages...) a very decent looking hotel building.
It offers all the usual services expected from a 5 star hotel from nightly shoe shine to the umbrellas at the concierge desk. It also has meeting facilities and an excellent restaurant called "Le Bourbon". The health club with swimming pool, jakuzzi and steam cabin is almost obvious :)
Various room sizes from 24-30 sqm superior rooms to 100 sqm diplomatic suites. They have of course handicapped access as well.
Unique Qualities: Very good location, excellent restaurant, good services - bt this is sort of normal at this level.
Address: 5th district, Erzsebet ter 9-10
Comparison: most expensive
Directions: Erzsebet ter is on the side of Deak ter, where the 3 undergorund lines meet. You just can't miss it! :)

In the lobby of Corvinus Kempinski
The Kempinski Hotel Corvinus is of course nothing like camping...:)
Locals tend to call it "Kempi", which pretty much resebles to the Hungarian word Kemping (Camping) in writing and in pronunciation as well, that's where my poor joke is coming from :)
It's an elegant yet modern hotel in the heart of the city, offering everything an expensive hotel should offer: elegant restaurants (Bistro Jardin and Restaurant Giardino), pub, lounge, spa, shops, etc...
Unique Qualities: Well located, excellent service, luxury treatments in the spa
Address: 5th district, Erzsebet ter 7-8

It houses the Zebrano restaurant offering amazing culinary creations.

Some of my friends where staying there and all of them liked it. For the price you pay, you get very decent service, the transportation is excellent and you will be between walking distance of most of the main landmarks.
And by the way you will be in the middle of the Budapest nightlife scene as well! :)
Unique Qualities: See above! :)
And check their homepage as well!

Gellert Hotel by night
Danubius Hotel Gellert is one of the Hotels with the longest history in Budapest. The secessionist building was opened in 1918. It's location on the bank of the Danube near the Gellert Hill offers a great view and also a great opportunity to relax, since it has thermal water coming directly from under the Hill.
The 4 star gellert Hotel is a great place to relax, but this of course has a price.
Unique Qualities: The Hotel's main attraction is the well known Gellert Spa, with thermal and other swimming pools, massage and other kinds of "threatment".
The Hotel also offers restaurants, event halls, conference rooms, etc.
Address: 11th district, Szt Gellert Ter 1, Budapest
Comparison: more expensive than average
Directions: On thr Buda side of the Liberty Bridge, accesible with the trams No. 47, 49, 18 and 19 or with the bus No. 7. But it's a 4 star hotel, so you might get a cab and be more stylish when arriving...:)

Price: US$120-180
