Luxor temple is located by the conrniche. You can see most of the temple from the corniche without paying 35 EGP (May 2006) entrance fee. I didn't go in because I have been paying many 35 EGP and I am a bit sick of the differential prices that Egypt is imposing to foreigner. I found out that local people pays ony 2 EGP but foreigners pays 35 EGP. It is up to you to decide whether this kind of pricing is fair or acceptable. You should enjoy and day and night view of Luxor temple.

Temples of Karnak is a spectacular complex of sanctuaries, pylons and Obelisks. History can be found in your travel guide books. More practical information are as follows: > It is crowded throughout the day, but better NOT be there between 11am-3pm because the sun light does not make your pics "beautiful". > You can stroll around the sites, ruins, but you need umbrella, hat, etc.. > Take some nice pics in the Great Hypostyle Hall where there are forest of 134 towering papyrus-shaped stone pillars. > Bring along water to the site as small bottle of water costs 8-10 EGP. REMEMBER entrance fee: 40 EGP (My 2006). See more pics of the temples. To get there, you can take the minibus to the north direction for ask for Karnak temple. It costs only 50p.

There are several tombs in the valley of kings where you can visit. You buy a standard ticket for 3 tombs for 55 EGP (May 2006). Some tombs may be closed for upgrading or renovation. This ticket excludes the Tomb of Tutankhamun for (70 EGP). It is a matter of choices, I visited: Ramses I (No.16), Tuthmosis III (NO. 34) and Tawosret/Sethnakht (No. 14). You need about 1.5 hours to visit 3 tombs.

Although there are about 75 tombs in the valley of the Queens, only 2 were opened at time of my visit (May 2006). They areTomb of Amunherkhepshef (No. 55) and Tomb of Khaemwaset (No. 44) . The Tomb of Nefertari was closed. Those tombs are clorful and stunning. You can get the history from your travel guide books. Practically, you need to bring hat, umbrella and sunscreen and it is oven hot. Admission ticket 20 EGP (May 2006). You can only puchase on the site, NOT at the central ticket office near the Colossi of Memnon.
