With the Orontes River flowing through the centre, its bank lined with trees and gardens and ancient, groaning norias (water wheels). Hama is one of Syria’s more attractive town. Although there is not much to see, it is peaceful and worth staying for at least 2-3 days, including some of the day trips that you can make from Hama to the dead cities, Qala’at Samaan and Apamea.

There are more than 10 noris in the city centre of Hama, this one may be the very first one every traveller will see after they check-in one of the two hotels - Cario or its competitor Raid Hotel.

One of the highlights of the day trip from Aleppo or Hama is to visit the dead cities which located in the south west of Aleppo or north east of Hama. You can reach these dead cities from either cities through arranged tours from your hotel or by minibus. But somehow to efficiently use of your time, arranged shared taxi is the best choice.
