The largest and most spectacular of the east-coast islands, Tioman is 39 KM long and 12 KM wide. It has beautiful beaches, clean water and coral for snorkelling or diving. Its major attraction has to be the contrasts and diversity it offers - high mountains, and dense jungle are only a short walk away from the coast. There are many kampung (villages) along the south and west coast of the island. There are many such a beautiful beach scene around the Tioman Island. You can also rent a canoe.

You can get there by boat from mersing by air from Singapore, Kulua Lumpur.

The island of Tioman is so hugh that you can see it as far as from Mersing, which is located in the west of the island and can be reached 2.5 hours by regular boat. You can get the boat ticket from one of the several agencies in Mersing. See the travelogue of travel agents.

Diving is one of the highlights that you visit this island. I joined a dive trip (package) from Singapore. It was a long weekend and we did 8 dives over 2.5 days. The buddies and friends are very nice and we had a good time. We missed out 1 night dive due to raining in the evening.

I did enjoy my dive trip very much. Forgetting the stress and unhappy from work and mind to enjoy the quiet and colourful underwater world. Also the coral may not be as great as that I saw in the Red Sea, I did see 1.5m long shark underwater and in the shore. In addition, I saw 2 tortoises, one of them were about 1.5-2M long.

The operator is definitely professional and friendly. They are knowledgable and take care of each and every member. I highly recommned this dive shop if you do the same.
