"Trekking to Mount Rinjani" Lombok by Sambawalk

Two main activites to do in Lombok, in addition to sun bathing and partying of course, are trekking in Mount Rinjani and scuba diving around Gili islands. I did both in Nov 2011.

There are many organizers with a large range of prices wich are reflected in their services, products, and deliverables, i.e. food and toilet, lol. Choose the one that suit your needs.

I did 3D2N trip and engaged the trekking organizer - Mr. Usman at Senaru village - to pick, trek, and drop off afterwards in the whole package. The cost is highly dependent on how you engage him, direct or via agents (and which agent) as well. I think you can also bargain for the price as I heard other trekkers did. For scuba diving, I joined in Manta dive shop for fun dives. The price is standard as per its website, but you can get discounts if you book on-line, rather than just walk in. This discount is in addition to the multiple dives that you can enjoy.Do check it out online before your arrival.

Camping over night in Mt Rinjani

My guide was experienced and considered. The pic was taken on the 2nd morning of the 3D trip.

The team of porters were also very good. While we were struck in rains when camping, they provided tent service, similar to room service in hotel, such that they cooked meals in separate shelter and bought the food and drink all the way to each tent to serve the dinner and morning breakfast.

Scuba diving around Gili islands

I did 4 dives around Gili islands, but I found the dive sites were not spendid enough to motivate me to do more. My personal opinion only!
