"Utah - Colorado Plateau's Wonderland" Utah by Trekki

Utah Travel Guide: 5,354 reviews and 13,821 photos

April 2009:
I am currently working on this page, because I wrote it ages ago and feel that it is very much rubbish text- and informationwise. And I miss the good old southwest so much that I will return as soon as possible, horray, red rock country!
Please be patient and wait until I am finished with the revamp.
Thank you :-)

Utah - such a simple name - such beauty behind !

Utah is one of the Southwest US states, and for me the most beautiful one.

Ok, maybe, because I like to hike, to admire earth history, to see clear skies, to sleep in the 3 million stars hotel called tent.
Or because I have close friends which live in St. George, and visiting them always gave me the opportunity to travel around and discover new miracles of red rock country.

I was here dozens of times, and wish I could go again - but this is another story.... Not anything to do with my friends but more with politics (not the Utah one....).
But maybe one day, I'll come back.....
At least, writing together my little Utah pages brings back some wonderful moments with lovely people and exciting landscape :-)

Geology heaven in Utah

Utah's character is very much dominated by the Colorado Plateau, which covers more or less 60% of Utah's area.
It's heaven for geologists, and although I am none, but quite much interested in earth history, I will add some more information about how the Colorado Plateau was formed here in my pages.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:red rock wonderland - exciting hiking - photographers' heaven
  • Cons:not a single bit !!

Oh... how long? A lifetime I'd say. I can't get enough of the hiking possibilities in Utah, especially the lesser known parts. But miniumum 1 week.

Smokey the Bear, Smokey the Bear. Prowlin' and a growlin' and a sniffin' the air. He can find a fire before it starts to flame. That's why they call him Smokey, That was how he got his name.

Elk Meadows, that is something for me! I am going home tomorrow. Mom has a lot of other friends to celebrate with her, like all the other australian friends, her trolls from her childhood and my human brother :-)

One should not let politics get in the way of one's travels as we don't have that much time. Great looks at a place that has made a good impression on you.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen desert varnish until I found your page. Interesting.
