Kitzbühel, it's churches and Kitzbühel Horn - Kitzbühel

Kitzbühel is located in Tirol, just a bit southeast of famous Wilder Kaiser mountain massif, around 800 m above sea level.

Due to its perfect setting between Hahnenkamm mountain area and Kitzbühel Horn mountain area, it offers fantastic options for hikers (300 km trails) , mountainbikers (700 km paths and trails) and in winter, of course, for skiers, where it has 150 km downhill paths, perfectly combined with ropeway rides and skilifts.

The Bichlach area just north of town has wonderful day hike possibilities and also the famous Schwarzsee, perfect for swimming after a long hiking tour :-)

It is close to Salzburg (some 80 km), to Innsbruck (some 100 km) and so offers enough to see for day city trips.

And with Wilder Kaiser, and the adjacent valleys, it also has much to explore for those who want to escape into the solitude.

I kind of grew up here, as our parents took us there for skiing since we were little kids. And later, I visited it a lot also during summer, spring and autumn.

So let me try and show you some of its hidden and not so "famous" beauties.

Pros and Cons

Pros:beautiful village - lots of outdoors - fascinating surroundings
Cons:can be a bit overcrowded in winter (but has escaping possibilities)
In a nutshell:lovely !

Most of the time we hear about Kitzbuehl from the races during ski season, I enjoyed learning a bit more. Lovely to see how much personal meaning the place has for you as well:)

  Thank you Val :-)) Yes, it has a very personal meaning for all of us :-) And I can tell you that it is equally marvellous during summer - maybe even more because all that jet-set guys are not there, and it feels more like the cute Austrian village :-)

what i remember about the Horn was all of the kids skiing over the top of mine in order to get ahead in the lift line. was that you? :-]

What a spectacular place, especially the restaurant setting and the new ropeway. I was particularly taken by the appropriateness of the long bicycle ride along the River Ache! :))
