Update, October 2010:
no new tips, only a marvellous new video about Umbria made by the magnificent Eugubinian (= from Gubbio) Danae Film Production.
Thanks guys for this splendid visual material!
This was my first impression when I visited Umbria in April 2008. The impression lasted during my whole trip, even if I saw more rain than sunshine. It manifested even more after the rain was gone and the dark clouds shone in the low reappearing sun. Rainbows came and the whole air was alive and filled with magic. I suddenly understood why San Francesco and the other Italian saints had choosen this region to live and to build their churches and places of worship.
You might come across my title on another page of mine:
Rheinland Pfalz.
Umbria fascinated me from the very moment I set foot into it and while I was travelling around I realised why: it reminded me so much of my beloved Palatinate, yet it was different. But different in landscape and mountains only, not in people, food and the devotion, people have to their lives and the goods their soil produces.
I have yet to work up my impressions, inside and here on VT. In the meantime I’ve written the tips I desperately wanted to share: most magic accommodations, divine dishes in excellent restaurants and extra special places to visit. You will not find Assisi and Perugia here but villages like Gubbio, which is my most favourite, or Bevagna or Norcia or Piediluco, at the lake. I will need a bit more time to complete this page, but I need to work on my Rheinland-Pfalz page urgently, out of a very specific reason.
Enjoy my Umbria.
It is a place, God once created.
Ingrid

Ingrid- Your pages on Umbria are like a combination of reading a novel and seeing a film at the same time. I have enjoyed them much and look forward to looking at more of them soon. Molto bene! Grazie!
Hello, Ingrid! Thanks for your splendid stories about your excellent trip! I enjoy reading your wonderful pages!
Ingrid, I just saw the main pic of your Umbria page and it looked so unbelievably beautiful that I just had to read the page :-) I am absolutely fascinated and you really show that Umbria is enchanted... or holy, as you say. Your love for it and the reasons for this strong love are shown in every single line, and it really makes me dream about this region. I have the feeling that it is a place that soothes the soul.
I also love the interesting details, for example the differences of the pinnacles - how fascinating :-) Or the origins of Valetine's Day, I did not know that!
I also like the idea of "slow food"! Although it includes animal products it has much in common with veganism - to really appreciate food, to take care of where it comes from and what it contains, and to be respectful and thankful about it, while still loving and enjoying the delicious meals :-) Oh, I feel hungry now!!! :-))
ur writing is so powerful that a person confined to bed will start walking suddenly and take small trip nearby in mountains and start writing poetry
Great Umbria page. Thank you for sharing!
As always, you delight us with your passionate, well-written reviews. This is definitely one corner of Italy I'd love to explore...and oh, to taste Redibis' gastronomic delights. Grazie for sharing with us.
I haven’t been on this your page since October 2008 and found you have been working hard and achieved perfectness. I know how much you love Umbria so no wonder! I quite agree with you - this is really a wonderful land!
Great Page Ingrid, I liked every line of it. Congrats... Bora
I felt that it was Mary of Medicis' picture !
Masterpiece, Ingrid! Valentine's whole year love affair. The only known name from my Italy spontanous family trip of 1991 is Orvieto. Cheers! P.S. If and when, just in case, you check my mostly unfinished pages - go to Meteora, embeded by Einstein quotes.
