My beloved Marburg, half-timbered house beauty :-)

I live in this state since more than 30 years, almost 20 of them in Darmstadt and should know it by now a bit better. But somehow I didn’t manage to explore more of it except the places I really love. That’s why I have started this page now: to provide information about the places I know and to inspire myself to discover more if its gems.

Update, March 2011:
Finally I wrote the tip text for the little gorge with fairy tale castles :-) (off path section) and the one about Kranichstein Hunting Castle (to-do section).
Otherwise no updates, only airport codes added to the given airports...

March 20, 2011:
Since the southern part of Hesse, Nature Park Bergstrasse Odenwald, has a separate location on VT, I have decided to create my own page and move some of my tips which are more specific for Odenwald than they are for the state of Hessen. This enables me to keep my Hessen page for tips which cover the entire state of Hessen.

Another excellent page, with photo's to match. The fairytale castle is so appealing to me, but too far I think. The Rose's in bloom at Eltville sound up my alley! Beautiful!

Excellent updates! A monastery with wine auction, that is good! Awsome half-timbered houses amidst a wine country! Not visiting a famous place nearby, I know that and do it too, haha! Drosselgasse, haha, a charming place!

What an interesting region: castles, half-timbered houses, beutiful landscape, magnetic stones... I think Hessen will be my next holiday destination in Germany.

"Directions a bit tricky" - this reminds of a parking lot near the Limes, and we still didn't find it.Your pictures look even better when I can see them in a large size.

The medieval dining sounds just like our wedding in Saxony. The pig on the wooden board was perfect with D as the hop queen fairy. :) The Kings Hall looks lovely and Worms. Darmstadt doesn't look half bad either. ;) I see we will be busy one day. :))
