Darmstadt's accommodations

As a local, I have my own bed here and don't stay in hotels or guesthouses. And friends and family stay in "Hotel Ingrid", so I cannot report about other places.
However, I recently got some questions about affordable hotels in Darmstadt, so some explanatory words:
Darmstadt is usually not a tourist destination for foreigners. So most tourists or travellers end up here only when they have been booked (or book themselves) for visiting exhibitions in Frankfurt. Frankfurt is only 20 min by train, and usually, Frankfurt hotels are either overpriced or full during exhibition times.
The most popular hotels among these travellers are Hotel Maritim (there are 2 Maritims, close to the main station). Some nice hotels are in the town centre like Bockshaut, however, they charge quite much, as they are also booked when the Maritims are full.
We also have cheap options, like Etap Hotel (something like 40 € per night), but these are the typical "sleeping factories" (as I call the bed only places without charm).
It seems that the hotel owners or guys behind the scenery did not yet have realized that a lot of travellers like cosy hotels at affordable prices.
Well, and if it happens that a Darmstadt hotel owner reads this - I hope you get the message....
Unique Qualities: So my advice, if you want to come to Darmstadt other than for visiting an exhibition in Frankfurt, please look for the more affordable places out of town.
There must be some, and I try to have some look when I have more time.
