CDO - City of Friendship

by ayn_g - last update: Oct 9, 2007

The Flight

September 21, Friday:

Our Cebu Pacific flight to CDO was delayed for about 40 minutes. So our initial plan to go around the city as soon as we touched down in CDO was scrapped. On our first night in the city, we ended up eating dinner at the Night Market before checking in at the Sunshine Guest House. We were supposed to stay at MASS SPEC, which was nearer to Divisoria than Sunshine, but the hostel was fully booked as there were students attending some seminar in the city billeted at MASS SPEC. Anyway, the minor glitch was a blessing in disguise as we got a better room at Sunshine.

Night Market

Grilled food was abound at the Divisoria area... There were grilled chorizo, pork, etc. everywhere. We settled in a stall near Watsons. It was just an okay gustatory experience. After checking in at Sunshine, we trooped back to the Night Market to check out the clothes and knick-knacks sold at the other side (near Ateneo de Cagayan).

The Return from Camiguin

September 23, Sunday:

The jeepney barkers at Agora Terminal stressed us out. They swarmed like bees on attack. That was the only time that I actually lose my patience and temper while traveling... I couldn't stand being surrounded by barkers who would quote a high price. It was a stressful experience. The barkers are bullies... They bully passengers to take the jeepney they contracted.

The other thing I have noticed while I was traveling, most people don't give you the exact distance of the place you want to go to... like when we asked a motorela driver what mall is the nearest from Mass Spec ... is it Robinsons and Limketkai... He said it was Robinsons.... so We agreed to just eat dinner at Robinsons, only to find out that Robinsons and Limketkai are adjacent. Also when I ask a question in Filipino (which is the national language of the Philippines), they would still respond to you in their local dialect that left us lost in translation.

Cons:"It was supposed to be a city of friendship but they were not that friendly."
