"The Land of a Thousand Lakes" Mazury by evaanna
Mazury Travel Guide: 66 reviews and 283 photos
Mazury is a picturesque region in the north-east of Poland. Its turbulent history, in the course of which it changed hands, loyalties and populations a number of times, is too complicated and full of controversy to delve into here.
Popularly called the Land of a Thousand Lakes, Mazury more than deserves this name. Dotted with thousands of postglacial lakes amidst beautiful undulating countryside and forest, it attracts tourists from all over Poland and abroad.
- Pros:Lakes, forests, beautiful scenery, excellent for sailing, kayaking, biking
- Cons:Touristy and noisy in summer, but not as crowded as the Polish seaside, and you can find many secluded places
- In a nutshell:A traveller's haven

This is such an excellent page about beautiful Mazury. Thanks so much for it.
An excellent page full of good tips and photo's! Such a pretty area, and so much of interest, the Palace, Castle, the Canals are so pretty with the reflections, and picking the wild Strawberries & Blueberries...that would be fun and yummy!
I did not know about this lake region, thanks it's a great tour. Those Crepes with blueberries and cream simply made me hungry.
Beautifully decribed and even more gorgeously illustrated. I was just getting to like autumn, but those sunsoaked photos along the riverbank make me long for summer. An excellent page !
What a beautiful place, and so well commented on. The travelogues are awesome.
Totally awesome page Ewa. Loved the pic of the Swans on the Krutynia & reflection of the clouds in the water on Lake Tejsowo. Saint John's Night Festival - walks along Jeglinski Canal - wonderful Polish Food. Well done!!
I spent too long under a tree sheltering from the rain and ended up being bitten by a tick, I could have done with your advice.
It sounds like you need the place to yourself to avoid the tourism. It is a wonderful setting. Thank you
Just back to ck. out your new travelogues. What a delightful little place. Love the river and all the boats. You seem to know all the best little spots to visit.
Such an interesting area to spend some time.....and the food references reminded me of good Polish friends in Sydney when I lived there, who made the best dinners I have ever had in my life!
