"Just a Glimpse of Coventry" a Coventry Travel Page by evaanna

I stayed at the University of Warwick in Coventry for 10 days in May 1995. But I didn't have a camera there and had little time for sightseeing, especially that the university is situated outside the city. When I had some free time I would sit on one of the benches by the small lake within the university grounds, reading. I remember the enormous swans there begging for crumbs and the wood at the back with a carpet of bluebells.
I went downtown once or twice to visit the ruin of the old cathedral, bombed during WWII and remember wondering why they had constructed the new modern cathedral by its side instead of trying to reconstruct the ancient one.
But the most memorable place I visited during my stay in Coventry was Warwick Castle not far from Coventry where I spent a whole day, enjoying it all enormously, except for the return journey when my bus did not arrive at all. I went there again in 2006 but did not go inside the castle, the admission fees having soared in the meantime. However, this time I saw much more of Warwick itself, a beautiful ancient town described on a separate page. As for my Coventry page, it will have to wait till I go there again, and with my camera this time.
