"Hanwell - a village in the Cotswolds" Hanwell by evaanna

Hanwell is another lovely Cotswold village situated just north of Banbury. It has a nice church with an old graveyard and pleasantly shady lanes with some huge ancient trees around it, unfortunately much too big for my camera. Like all Cotswold villages, it has a pub, The Moon and Sixpence, and, unlike any of them, the Hanwell Community Observatory, whose aim is to promote astronomy and bring it closer to the general public. The observatory is housed in Hanwell Castle, now a private residence.

Drystone walls and tombstone gates - what other relics of the past does this amazing little village have to offer!? Excellent page Ewa. It makes me long for another spring/summer visit to England.
As you say, I doubt modern day masons could put together such wonderful drystone walls.
Great that Hanwell has a Community Observatory. I'm sure not many other villages can make that claim.
Gorgious front photo and nice location!
Houses made of natural stones and topped with thatched roof always look fantastic, right? Haha, that one in Hanwell looks georgeous!
Dry stone walls were marvelous, and that introductory photo of the thatch-roofed cottage is most wonderful.
an interesting location, my favorite is that straw-thatched cottage, it looks so great and lovely !
look forward to seeing more. The cottage is brilliant. We have lots of dry stone walls in Scotland too.
Looks like a very pretty place to visit!
