"Hardangervidda's great wilderness" Hardangervidda Nasjonalpark by evaanna
Hardangervidda Nasjonalpark Travel Guide: 17 reviews and 48 photos
Totally deprived of any signs of human activity, the mountain plateau of Hardangervidda has a mesmerising efffect on anybody who sees it for the first time. We had already crossed it once five years ago but we couldn't resist seeing it again two years later on our way from Bergen. The desolate character of the place makes it an ideal place for people who seek peace, clear air and, in the case of trekkers or cyclists, do not need the company of other people. You hardly meet anybody there.
And this year we went along the western edge of Hardangervidda in Hardanger, admiring the beautiful scenery of the fjord and spending a night at the village of Kinsarvik, with a most interesting church and boat trips on the fjord starting from the port there.
- Pros:Wonderful views, clean air, open spaces
- Cons:Desolateness of the area (if you think it's a disadvantage)
- In a nutshell:Nature at its best

Such beautiful landscapes! The motel cabins looks so charming. The falls look spectacular! Wonderful page!
What a gem I found! Loved this page, just the type of scenery I like, especially the waterfalls, they look fantastic! The campground, what a view, I wouldn't want to leave!
Interesting place. I know nothing about Norway national parks in the south, maybe this is a good park to start with.
What an amazingly beautiful area. Love the mountain views from the campsite. And such cute cabins to stay in.
Ewa - stunning scenery in this pristine area of Scaninavia. And long daylight hours toadmire it. Kinsarvik Church looks really interesting. That lake near cabins is picture perfect. Thanks for sharing.

I enjoyed reading your tips about Hardangervidda's total wilderness. It really does look like Nature at its best!
This desolate place comes "alive" through your well-written tips. I especially enjoyed the information on the Kinsarvik Church.
Norway looks spectacularly wild and beautiful. If I go to Scandinavia this summer I must try and include it on my itinerary. The cost of living there scares me off but you have some very practical acomodation tips :))
An excellent page on this very beautiful part of Norway! It sounds like a great place to get away to for some relaxation while enjoying the fresh airs. As you say, Kinsarvik church is an amazing find out there in the wilderness!
