Things To Do: Delta Adventure Travel Agency
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • You can get all your day trips from Delta Adventure... Caters to the backpackers and budget travellers...

    Trips available from US$6...

Note: If you booked your package online, they will tell you to go down to the office a day before to pay.. You don't have to go down.. You can pay on the day itself..

Somehow the address that I have is wrong (Think I got it from the confirmation email)..
I don't know how but I ended in District 3 and the person told me that we went to the wrong office and the right office is in District 1! And she mentioned that I dont have to come and pay first..

    Ben Thanh market: Shopping..
  • Tip Rating:
  • This is a must-go shopping destination...

A place where you can find coffee, textiles, bags, shoes, clothes, foodstuffs, handicraft items, designer purses, luggages, scarves, etc..

The place is well organized and easy to follow. While they are open till the evening, it may be best for morning visit when activities are brisk.

Your bargaining power must be very powerful.. Slash as much as possible... The price they charged are extremely high...

    Mekong Delta: Mekong Delta Experience
  • Tip Rating:
  • One of the day trips that you have to take up.. I took a one day trip organised by Delta Adventures at only USD12 (including lunch)..

This trip provides a look at a wide variety of life and scenery on Vietnam River from the peaceful Delta..

We departed from HCMC at 8 am on a bus ride to Mekong and there are beautiful sceneries along the way. The ride is about 2.5 hrs. The tour guide will give brief history and culture of the locals as we passed by some houses and paddy fields..

Upon arriving at the jetty, you will go on board a boat & its here where the jouney began and you get to experience the following:

    1. Taste honey tea and enjoy the tropical fruits..
    2. The making of Coconut Candy.. Buy some for your friends..
    3. Lunch in Mekong Delta - Not that fantastic..
    4. Tailboat ride along Mekong Delta River..
    5. Taste the snake wine..

    Notre Dame Cathedral: The Cathedral
  • Tip Rating:
  • A French-built Catholic cathedral in the city centre next to the Post Office.

The cathedral was built in the 18th century and decorated with stain glass windows. This is one of the landmarks among the impressive avenues and open spaces north of Dong Khoi. The huge red-brick edifice with twin spires is placed between two streams of traffic and is a clear reminder that the French once ruled this city. Inside, the decor is relatively austere, but the church gets very full and very lively during services. This peaceful place is perfect for quiet contemplation.

Out of Saigon - Cu Chi Tunnels: Cu Chi Tunnels
  • Tip Rating:
  • A two-hour drive northwest out of Ho Chi Minh City brings you to the area of Cu Chi, famous for its maze of tunnels used by the Viet Cong in the war against the United States.

We walked through the jungles of Viet Cong-occupied territory to the sounds of gunshots (a shooting range was one of the attractions). We watched about 10 minutes of a documentary made in the 1967, then we proceeded to the tunnel entrance. Often little more than one meter high and 80 centimeters across, these tunnels were supply routes, kitchens, hospitals and training facilities.

Our guide told us that new entrances have been added and the tunnels have been widened for tourists. In the spirit of my voyage of discovery, I went into the tunnels. Thankfully, the once continuous line of hundreds of miles of tunnels is now segmented for the sake of tourism.

At the end of the your, you get to taste the food that the local ate during the war: tapioca..

War Remnants Museum: War Remmants Museum
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • The sobering War Remnants Museum was established in September 1975 in Ho Chi Minh City. It contains countless artifacts, photographs and pictures documenting some of the less heroic activities carried out by the US army in Vietnam.

Displays illustrate the killing of civilians, the spreading of toxic defoliant, the torturing of prisoners and the effects of the war in the north. Planes, tanks, bombs and helicopters are also on display.

Outside the museum are some rooms displaying cultural products of the Vietnamese culture. Over the last 29 years, over six million visitors have entered the museum. Nearly one million among them are from abroad.

    Entrance fee is VND15,000..

    Post Office: Post Office
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • In a grand old colonial building, you can check out the huge maps of Vietnam on either side of the main entrance and the huge portrait of Uncle Ho in the rear. The specialty stamps counter has some great collector sets for sale.

Located in city centre, it is the place where locals and tourists get in touch with the outside world since Internet access is limited to business enterprises and hotels.

    Reunification Palace: Reunification Palace
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • On April 30, 1975, Communist tanks smashed through the gates of the Presidential Palace, symbol of the South Vietnamese government. Guides at the renamed Reunification Palace now offer daily tours to visitors.

The Palace is also noted for its striking 1960s architecture, the creation of Paris-trained Vietnamese architect Ngo Viet Thu. Included on the tour are visits to conference rooms, the Presidential Receiving Room, basement tunnels and war room, telecommunications center and the residential quarters, as well as a back terrace complete with heliport.

    Admission: USD4.

    Open Hours: 7.30am-11am; 1pm-4pm daily.
