Capital of Humanism | Basel's Münster and its braille version |
Basel might be considered the capital of Humanism. We went to look for places Carl Jung lived and studied. But you might go to visit the place because of Erasmus or Nietsche. Basel occupies a strange spot in Europe. The Rhine makes its large turn to the North, the direction Basel is faceing. Is it the first city of the South of Europe? The last of the North? It lays in Switserland, but could have been in France or Germany. It is basically a land of its own. Even the Swiss seem to have some reserve towards Basel. Basel has very steep hills. These afford lovely views. But it is also very nice to look at from the 'other side'. |
