Amsterdam Travel Guide: 10,043 reviews and 20,824 photos
I had never seen a city built on canals before, so that was rather lovely to me.
Still, I made two stupid mistakes in Amsterdam:
1. I bought Dutch contact lens solution- which made me cry (involuntarily) for a solid fifteen minutes, when I squeezed it into my eye.
2. I got on a scooter with a guy who was going to help me find my hostel. Ahem. That was my fault, but I was kind of tired, lost and cold and it was late. Anyway, if he really wanted to cause harm, he could have punched me in the face or something, but he let me up off the ground and I went a' running.
I still had a really good time in the city, the museums are great, and I love the dominance of bikes on the road!
- Pros:The canals, Rijksmuseum, Grapefruit Fanta, BIKES!
- Cons:Men who don't stop following you. Americans visiting just to get high?
