Nightlife Spot: Finch
Hip neighborhood hangout in the Jordaan bordering the Noordermarkt square, the focal point of the Jordaan area. The square hosts a biological market on Saturdays and a flea market on Mondays, and during market hours Finch is packed. Other days it's a mellow bar with a cool interior, loungy tunes, and good food. Nice sidewalk terrace during summer.

This is a large three-in-one: grand-cafe during the day, where you can have a late breakfast, lunch, sip a coffee and read the papers, a restaurant during the evening, and a trendy bar at night, when the reading table collapses into the floor to form a dance floor. Predominantly gay public.

Housed in a former Port Authority building slightly out of city center, Panama comprises a restaurant and a hip nightclub/theatre. The restaurant itself is a roomy affair, with large windows, high ceilings and subdued stylish decoration.

Cafe 't Smalle is a cozy brown café in the Jordaan. If the weather is nice, it's one of the best places to sit/stand outside on the terrace at the canal and enjoy the Amsterdam atmosphere.

Nightlife Spot: Kapitein Zeppos
Kapitein Zeppos has all the old-style charm of an open-air music café, with its glass front. A singer comes by every Sunday afternoon to liven up proceedings with a few oldies. The raised levels, the old wood tables and the array of odd artefacts makes the Kapitein a truly authentic place. Next to the pub they also have a restaurant.

Nightlife Spot: Cafe Vertigo
Cafe Vertigo is on the ground floor of the Film Museum in the Vondelpark. First take a walk in the park or hire some rollerskates and then go to this cafe. You can just have a drink and some tapas but they also have a restaurant for lunch and dinner. If you would like to picknick in the park, here you can get picknick baskets and a plaid. If the weather allows, you can take your drink outside and sit on a large terrace at a table underneath a giant Chestnut tree It's a wonderful place to sit and watch the sun set over the Vondelpark

Paradiso is mainly known as a venue for live music but during the weekend it sometimes hosts club nights with local and international DJ's and occasional live acts. See the program on their website www.paradiso.nl Paradiso is located in a former church, the interior has high ceilings and a balcony overlooking the stage area, with three large illuminated church windows above the stage.
