"Peru- has more than just about Machu Picchu" Peru by VZ-Pam

Machu Picchu was shut down in late January 2010 due to torrential rain & mudslide which blocked the rail road to the inca ruines of Machu Picchu.
The Peruvian government airlifted about 4000 stranded travellers from the site after the heaviest rains in the region in 15 years. 5 people were killed & numerous lost of civilians properties & damaged houses.
I hope the affected people in the region can rebuild their homes & find jobs in the near future.
To me, there are many ancient ruines for tourists to see in Peru...not just Machu Picchu. So far on this trip, I had seen many Inca Ruines & had developed a thirst for more. It was a fantastic trip even without visiting Machu Picchu. There actually are a lot more to see in many many cities of Peru , and many more ruines which are built like Machu Picchu except they were destroyed by the spainish conquests in the past. We can still learn a lot from those.
In this trip, I went to Lima, Paracas, Nazca, Arequipa & Cusco.
It was amazing to find out each cities were so different from each other & each one of them had something special about them.
Different landscapes, different environment & different pace of the local people from these cities....all very interesting to me & they have their own character.
When you see the ancient ruines that left behind like the Nazca lines & the aquaduct, they will stimulate your curiosity to find out how the ancient empires built those places & speculate the reasons building them....
(to be continue ....under construction)
