"Project Iceland" a Iceland Travel Page by VZ-Pam

Besides being a country described as "Fire & Ice", the recent economic crisis of 2008 in Iceland add a sense of fear & anger in her people striving to keep the country from bankruptcy.

I walked passed one of the designer store windows on "Laugavegur", I saw this sign display at the window about "Project Iceland" exhibition. I could not stop but thinking to myself, this financial crisis is really ONE BIG PROJECT for its governement & her people to handle. Also relations between UK & Iceland deteriorate after UK use the anti-terror legislation to freeze Icelandic assets in the UK to try to protect UK savers in Iceland’s banks. Can people of Iceland handle all these ?

As quote from Icelandair's In-flight magazine - "Welcome to Iceland - hit harder than many places by the by the economic crisis, the mood in Iceland is stoical & this hardy nation has no intention of letting itself be defeated by the times ....."

I am sure it will recover & hopefully tourism helps. Thankfully Iceland is also blessed by mother nature with the clean air and pure water that they can sell as bottle water. So are the geothermal pools & spas like Blue Lagoon that are tourists favorites. Breathe taking views & boasting the country as a natural geological classroom will attract lots of tourists to bring money into the country.
