I stayed at this hotel when I visited NY in february 2004. It is located on Lexington Avenue and 51st St. Central Park , St Patricks Cathedral and Times Square are all within walking distance. (Empire State Building and further downtown I suggest using the subway). About the room: pro: clean, cozy, small fridge, tv, nice bathroom, con: can't think of anything right now. ATM can be found in the lobby, near the elevators. Only negative thing I can think of is that it's rather expensive to stay at this hotel... Edit: the hotel was under major reconstruction when I stayed there and I haven't had a chance to re-visit since, so most of what I said about the room, lobby,... will not be up to date. my apologies for that....

If you are looking for a hotel in a great location, look no further. The Ramada Plaza New Yorker hotel is close to Madison Square Garden, the Empire State Building, Macy's and even Times Square. Arriving: when you exit the subway the hotel is right around the corner. I've read alot of bad things about this hotel on the internet but I don't have any real complaints... Check in and check out was smooth, very friendly staff. Did I mention the hotels great location ? Cons: room was a little small for three people, we didn't have much of a view , bathtub + sink need replacement (worked but way too old) Conclusion: If you are looking for a decent hotel in a great location: this is it One last tip: Ticktock diner (inside hotel) is really expensive, we had breakfast every day at Cafe34.

Our trip to NYC in september last year was sort of a last minute thing and we chose this hotel because of the good reviews we had read on the WWW :-) Check in was smooth but as we arrived in our room, the smoke detector was giving a "low battery" alarm followed by an incredibly annoying high tone. So back to reception were they told us someone from maintenance would come up and take care of it. After about 20 minutes the man showed up and replaced the battery solving our "noise" problem. That's the only "negative" thing I can come up with though. Positive: friendly staff, a room that was more than big enough for the three of us, very clean, great beds, TV, a nice size fridge, spotless shower / tub,... What more could you ask for? Conclusion: Very satisfied, we would definitely go back there again. Highly recommended !
