We were attending Spanish school in Antigua as Holy Week approached. The town is inundated with tourists during this time and is probably themsot dangerous time to be there because of the draw for pickpockets and out right robbers. A beautiful place, nonetheless.
Each morning a man and a couple boys wend their way along the streets driving a small herd of goats. People come out and order fresh milk from the herder. He milks them on the spot and you can drink the milk there or take it in for your breakfast. I met him one morning to take some pictures and we visited for quarter of an hour. I not only got some great photos, but also had some fresh warm milk and had my picture taken milking a goat. Our encounter seems to have been profitable for the herder, as my milking the goat attracted a crowd and sales of milk were very good! |
