Shawano County, particularly in the Shawano-Bonduel area is home to many Amish families. As a result there are often horses on the county and town roads.

Twice a year there is a large Quilt Auction -the Saturday before Mother's Day and the Saturday before Labor Day. It is fun to watch the beautiful quilts being auction or just browse around, eating Amish homemade pie and coffee and meet friends.

There are two Amish stores where you can buy all manner of groceries and some times even fresh produce like blueberries, cherries and peaches.

There are also two furniture stores in the countryside where handmade chests, chairs, bedsteads, dressers, etc. can be purchased. I particularly like the solid cherry furniture.
