I thought it was about time that I created an Andalucia page, as we have been there several times and have visited many towns over a wide area.

Our first trip to Andalucia was in September 2001. We flew to Jerez, and after one day exploring drove up to Seville, where we stayed for three nights. Our next stop was Cordoba, to visit the famous Mesquita, and after three days we travelled on to Granada. We visited the Alhambra amongst other places, and drove up the Sierra Nevada for some cool mountain air.

From Granada, we drove back via Marbella to visit Ronda for the day before driving to Cadiz to unwind. After two days by the Atlantic, we drove back to Jerez through the morning traffic to catch our flight home.

Our second visit to Andalucia was in September 2003. We stayed in Jerez for a week, and explored the town thoroughly. We also did a day trip to Seville by train, and another trip to Cadiz, also by train.

In September 2004, we decided to travel north. We started from Jerez, stayed in Cordoba for a couple of nights and then drove north out of Andalucia to Toledo. Our next stop was Merida, and we returned to Jerez for one night before flying home.

Our trip in May 2006 was entirely within Andalucia. Two nights in Jerez, our favourite town were followed by two nights in Marbella for the big VT Euromeet 2006. We then travelled to Ubeda, to explore the region around Jaen, before returning to Jerez for the big May fair, the Feria de Caballos. After all that traveling, we then spent three days on the Atlantic coast, the Costa de la Luz, to unwind before returning home.

Pros:Wonderful unspoilt countryside inland
Cons:The south coast is overdeveloped
In a nutshell:Couldn't be more different from the Costas you have heard about.
