"Goldhanger and the Essex Coast" Goldhanger by alucas

Goldhanger Travel Guide: 2 reviews and 4 photos

Goldhanger is a little village close to the River Blackwater. There is a church, two pubs and a handful of houses.

There are footpaths leading to the sea wall, and you can walk for miles - check the tide times as there are vast expanses of mud at low tide. There are a number of sailing clubs on the Blackwater and in the summer there is plenty of activity to watch

The area is also good for bird-watching.

I always like walks along the seashore, no matter where it is! Nice countryside here too. The Bay of Fundy tides, highest in the world, are near my home, so I am quite familiar with mud flats too!

Don't know this coast at all but it sounds as muddy as Morecambe Bay!!!

I don't think I have ever been to Goldhanger! I think I will have to put it on my list for my next visit home.

Nice pics! Lovely English countryside. You are so right about the tide and the mud. ~Elaine~
