My travel motto has always been a good reminder for me. It's a quote from Dr. Seuss which means, basically, "you are always the same person, no matter where you travel, no matter in what circumstances you find yourself." Your circumstances don't change the person you are inside. So just be true to who it is you wish to be. Of course I believe we can all be enriched through new experiences and new relationships. However, the core of who we are remains the same.

I'm a San Francisco native, but have lived here in Idaho for the last ten years. I love to travel, but haven't had as many opportunities lately as I would like - it's time consuming raising two little boys. Life with them is a "trip" all by itself. Corny, but true.

My favorite travel destinations so far have been Italy, Switzerland and Austria. I had the opportunity to live in northern Italy for a number of years, and I hope to travel much more in the coming years. It's great getting an idea of what wonderful places there are to visit through all of the creative pages here. I'm collecting many ideas for future trips.

My travel pages will be slow in coming, as I'm pretty busy with kids and puppies at the moment. Several people have written how addictive these pages can be, and I have to agree. I check here several times a week to see what fantastic places people have been!

Thanks to all for the many hours spent uploading photos and writing about unique experiences and insights. You are truly an interesting group of travelers! Cin cin, and bon voyage!

Getting to Know My Own Surroundings...

We make frequent trips to the Cache Valley in Utah. This is one of the loveliest vallies I've ever seen. The weather is always changing. I've been enjoying exploring the west. Washington, Oregon, Utah and California are all nearby, and all have lots to offer: great skiing, the ocean and tidepools, whitewater rafting, hiking, etc.

Lincoln City, Oregon - Interesting sand creatures

This summer we went to the Oregon coast with friends and rented a house on the beach. Nice to have no pagers, cell phones or otherwise so-called "civilized" world interruptions for a week.

Tidepool life - Yaquina Point, Oregon

Having grown up on the northern California coast, I thought I'd seen lots of tidepool life before. The day before we returned home, I discovered the most wonderful tidepools on the very beach where we were staying. This photo is not from that beach, and a poor representation of the walls of starfish, anenomes, mussels, etc. I found, but I don't yet know how to upload single images from my video camera. Will try to edit at a later date.
