Amsterdam is a city that attracts all sorts of people. I have been here a few times now and always seem to find something new to do.
We stay in the Leisdseplein area; this suits us as it is near to many resturants, bars, the Van Gogh museum, and isn't too far from Central Station - just a short tram ride away - or a nice walk through the small streets.
When we 1st went to Amsterdam we found our way to the Red Light District - what an eye opener!!! There are women of every shape and size who stand in their windows day and night - scantily clad - waiting for 'customers'. I was a bit put off the Red Light District when we 1st went with all the drug dealers that loom around the streets - i found it quite intimidating and so only ventured there in the day time. The 2nd time we visited Amsterdam a whole group of us went - mainly my boyfriends mates and so they wanted to go to the Red Light District at night....it is like a whole different place, the 'windows' are all lit up, it seems to be a lot more busier, and I still found it as intimidating as going through the day time. I even found myself in the Cassa Rosso - a sex show. For me I found it a bit embarrassing - I am not sure whether it was the fact that i was there with all my boyfriends friends or whether, i was just uncomfortable with the whole thing. Anyhow if you are wanting to go, i think that it costs 25 Euros and i am not sure how long you can stay in there for....we left after 4 'Acts' - that was enough for me.
When we go to Amsterdam now, we spend the days wandering the streets, people watching, and shopping. We are due another trip out there in the summer - i don't normally take my camera but i am going to this time to make sure i can make my Amsterdam pages better!!!
