Getting TO/AROUND: If you can help it, unless your hotel is right next to the airport, don't arrive in Rome at night. The reason for this is that the metro stops running at 11:30 pm. Taking a taxi from the airport to central Rome can cost upwards of 150 Euro. I understand there is a bus you can take, but I have no information on it and I wouldn't want to take a Rome bus in any case with luggage. If you don't have some euros with you when you arrive, you'll need to exchange some at the airport. The metro train will cost you 10 Euro per person to take to Rome Termini station.
