Living in a city where anything is possible New roads appear, old ones are suddenly blocked. Someone speeds past you on the hard shoulder while in front of you someone else is driving with his hazard lights on for no apparent reason (except that it is generally hazardous to drive). New buildings appear in just a few months, skyscrapers 1km long are planned, islands emerge out of the sea shaped like palm trees. This is a city where anything is possible, and for that reason alone it is tried. Among the new ideas is an underwater hotel and city in a bubble in the sky. It's vibrant, it's exciting and , of course, it's frustrating. To really experience Dubai, don't hide in the air-conditioned shopping malls, you have Gap at home. Take an abra across the creek, smoke sheisha pipe in a cafe on the pavement, listen to the wails of the mosque and take a trip into the desert. If you have the opportunity, come to Dubai during the Rugby Sevens at the beginning of December or during the World Cup horse racing in March to really experience the buzz of being in Dubai. |
