  HI tiger! Sound like you know this area pretty well and may give as good advises. My husband and I have been thinking to go on a road trip this summer. This is not a first trip we are doing. We live in Chicago. Here is a little bit of a history so you understand what type of road trips we like: Two years ago we went to Canada: Chicago -> Niagara Falls-> Ottawa -> Quebec -> Montreal -> Mont Treblant -> Chicago. It took us 10 days. It was an awesome trip!!! So far, the best I ever had. The Mont Treblant - it is a ski resort with lots of restaurants, shops, condos, hotels, a summer jazz festival, funiculars and gondolas, different activities for kids and adults, a beach and water activities. It locates in the middle of Mont Treblant mountains with gorges views!!! It is a must to see place. Last year we made a round trip from Chicago to Colorado, Wyoming visiting Colorado Springs where we went on Pikes Peak Cog Railway and Drafting- was Great!!! then Aspen, Jackson Hole, Yellow Stone national Park, Rushmore mountain. We made that trip for 9 days. This time we want to go to California and drive on Hwy # 1 from LA to San Francisco or the other way around. We have not picked a place yet where we can fly out from Chicago and rent a car. It would be easy for us to have the same city for an arrival and departure. For example, we fly to Las Vegas, rent a car and drive to LA or San Francisco and come back to Vegas. What we need is an advise how to plan this trip. We will have about 8 , 9 days total. What places you recommend to visit, let's say starting from Vegas? What roads/hwy's to take to have nice views?
