| | Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park I visted Maine for the first and only time in September of 2000. I made the 10-12 hour drive from my home in Philadelphia and was able to make some stops on the way north to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. One of the best stops along the way was in Cape Elizabeth, ME and the Portalnd Head Lighhouse pictured to the left. Also make sure to stop at the Lobster Shack in Cape Elizabeth for a clam cake sandwich. This sport was recommended to me by a co worker and it was simply outstanding understated New England seafood served on a cliff overlooking the water.
Very Cool. |
| | September was also an outstanding time to visit to coincide with the beginning of the simply amazing fall foliage that can be seen in Maine. Although I was not here for what would be considered "peak" as you can see from the photo it was beautful none the less. Understand that it is one of those natural wonders that I don't feel photographs or videos can completely capture, it is one of those things you must see first hand on your own. |
| | Not only is Acadia National Park worth the visit but the town of Bar Harbor is also an extremely great place to visit as well. The town though small is dotted with great shops, local lobster houses and restaurants and local Maine charm abounds. |
