Visiting Pairs in April 2003 allowed me to answer the age old question of whether when traveling on a short scheduled trip is it better to see as much as you can or focus more intently on seeing maybe one thing and not spread yourself so thin.
As part of my trip to London I was able to travel aboard the train and visit Paris for the day. While I was excited to see Paris I wrestled whether I should try to do it all or perhaps just one or two things. In the end I went for seeing it all and was able to see the Eiffel Tower, the Arch de Triumphe, Il Notre Dame as well as a bus trip around Paris to view the Louvre, the Seine and other sites of Paris as well as lunch across from Notre Dame in a real Parisian cafe.
Unfortuantely due to time constraints I was not able to go up in the Eiffel Tower, go inside the Louvre, see the Musee D Orsay or linger on the Champs. All in all why some would say you are better seeing just the Louvre and calling it a day I disagree.
While I admit there was so much I did not get to expirience I still can say I stood in front of the Eiffel Tower, stood by the Arch and layed eyes on Notre Dame. My hope now of course is to return to Paris for a week and recover the sights and sounds of Paris, tour the museums more leisurely, take a boat cruise on the Seine, visit more cafes, have great dinners and see the sights again. |
