Travel Dates: June 2-3 2008.
Unfortunately, in the minds of many, Frankfurt is regarded mostly as an inconvenient stop where they have to transfer planes. How many times have I been through the Frankfurt Airport now? 10? 20? Those memories are a meaningless haze; they would be completely forgotten if it wasn't for all the "Frankfurt AM Main" stamps littering the inside of my passport.
I cannot tell you what a relief it was to finally be in Frankfurt and not be at the airport rushing from one gate to another. ...Or not trying to killing 5 or 6 hours sitting in one of the airport's cafeterias, trying to stay awake to make a connecting flight.
I was in Frankfurt and I had freedom! ...An entire day and night to explore, eat, and do whatever I wanted in this city that I'd technically frequented so often but had never seen any part of. |
