Travel Dates: Many times, June 5-6 2004, December 9-11 2005.I had a feeling that Montreal's "Old Town" would be pretty at Christmas, so planned a trip for the second weekend in December. I was wrong, it wasn't "pretty", it was absolutely gorgeous! It was like walking into a pastel scene from the front of a Christmas card, like the CGI creators at a special effects company built an ideal magical wonderland. Only this is all real. If the holidays tend to drag you down, I would highly recommend a trip here. The lights, lampposts, old buildings, skating on the canal, horse carriage rides, hot chocolate (and hot wine!), will make your heart gush with the spirit so much you'll feel like a kid again. It's sickeningly sweet! See my Montreal Travelogues for more photos of Christmas in Montreal. |

fairy_dust Tue May 12, 2009 20:57 UTC I love your tip about Schwatz's! I live close to it so I always have to fight temptation to eat there every day... I agree about the pickle - it totally makes the meal! | Dabs Fri Jun 22, 2007 17:39 UTC How come you didn't tell me about butter tarts???? Now you have to bring me one! Or when you buy me dinner I get a crepe AND a buttertart ;-) | Travmad Sat Jun 9, 2007 01:22 UTC That's a great tip Ed. I hope to get to Montreal. | shohman Thu Dec 14, 2006 11:41 UTC God I love Montreal. I just wish 99% of my pics of my many visits weren't of drunken friends :/ |
