Toronto "the Cold"? "The Impersonal"? I used to have the photo on the right as my primary photo of Toronto on this page. I've decided to change it to something more colourful after CdnJane and hayward68 hosted a fantastic VT Meet in T.O. and showed us a warmer, softer side to this big beast of a city. Canadian small towners, west coasters, east coasters, and I would venture to say anyone else who doesn't live there, love to bash Toronto for its sense of self-centeredness. Heckling Toronto is part of the Canadian tradition. So (gulp!), and I say this with some hesitation, Toronto ain't so bad. ...'cept for the guns. ...and all the yuppies driving SUVs around. ...and all the people text messaging with one hand while carrying Starbucks coffee around in the other. ...and all the rowdy hobos. ...and the general lack of concern for anything outside the all-seeing eye of the CN Tower. What was my point again? ...Oh yeah, I guess it ain't so bad. |
