Havana - Habana Vieja (2004)
Travel Dates: March 3 2004.

This is one of my favourite photos I took while in Cuba. Havana is, well... beautiful. And very clean. The media always makes it look like a mess, but it's extremely clean. Look at the sidewalks, not a cigarette or cigar butt in sight. Not a "Coke" sign, flashing billboard, or cell phone ad posted anywhere. Just getting away from massive commercialization for awhile is so relaxing on the mind. It just needs a paint job. A few billion gallons would do it.
Havana - Plaza de la Revolucion (2004)

Plaza de la Revolucion

"This has to be it," I kept saying over and over. I wasn't completely sure at the time, but it was the "Plaza de la Revolucion" and it looks like giant parking lot. This shot is from the upper area where Fidel Castro gives his speeches on May 1st.
After we were finished at the Plaza, we went for a daquiri at one Hemingway's old haunts, El Floridita.
See my Havana Travelogues for more photos of Plaza de la Revolucion and La Floridita.
Havana - Fisherman on the Malecon

The Malecon and Habana Vieja

Another one of my favourite photos from Havana, a fisherman on the rocks just off the Malecon. A little cliche, but a great pic. We walked around Old Havana for a few hours, visited the art market, and walked a few kilometres up the Malecon.
See my Havana Travelogues for more photos of the Malecon.

You did a good detail presentation of the sites around the country-especially the cathedral. YOu may like to visit me one month trip to 11 parks in Utah and Arizona for future interest.

Good tips on Havana.I especially enjoyed the warning re Jineteras (it would make me crazy!) and the El Florodita tip.Hemingway left his mark for sure.

Great tip on El Floridita - sounds like a unique place out of the past. If the US ever drops its stupid restrictions, I'm sure Canadians will not be happy because now they can visit Cuba without any Americans. Cheers, Bill
