Castles, Da Vinci and a Buddhist Temple | Long Shadow of Chateau de Chambord |
Kings ran rampant in this region back in the day. They left indelible marks in the valley with Chateau de Chenonceau and Chateau de Chambord. Both have gardens and fields everywhere. Very green and outdoorsy. If you like trees and grass and flowers to go with a castle of impressive proportions, then you won't mind the time spent driving to and from them.
Oddly, Leonardo da Vinci's final home which is now a museum honoring his genius is also in this region as is a Buddhist Temple, the Pagode.
Loire Valley is also known for its Rose wine, which ultimately became my favorite wine in France. |
