Living the Dream

by LostBoyPN - last update: Sep 8, 2008

Tokyo, September 2008

View of Tokyo from Mori Tower
Tokyo is many things. It's frenetic. It's metropolitan. It's expensive. It's clean. It's safe. It's efficient. It's wonderful. It's one of my favorite metropolitan cities in the world. But, the last memory I will have of the city was its people. I loved the people in Tokyo. Although I was a bit lost in translation, it was clear to me that Japan has some of the world's kindest, gentlest and most courteous people. What a departure it was from my trip to Marrakesh where everything was dirty and everyone was out to get a few Dirham out of me. Tokyo costs a million times more than Marrakesh, but you get what you pay for. And in Tokyo, you get a lot.

Marrakesh, Morocco, June 2008

An intensely energetic city, Marrakesh is a lot of things - both good and bad. Unlike any other place I've been, Marrakesh has beautiful architecture, lots of colors and lots of spiritual energy. It can be hectic and annoying walking through the labyrinth of souks and being begged for money, but it was well worth the trouble.
One of the pristine beaches in Oahu

Oahu, August 2007

Ahhh the sweet island life. The beaches, the weather, the people and the Aloha spirit are all in abundance on Oahu... so long as you can tolerate all the tourists in Waikiki. I loved it on Oahu. North Shore. Waimanalo Beach. Lanikai Beach. Even the over-crowded beaches on Waikiki. You can't help but feel good walking around this island paradise.
Me at South Beach

Miami and the Florida Keys, June 2007

The drive to Key West was exhilerating. Miami is a nice bayside city, albeit a bit under construction at the moment. But it's always nice to go somewhere beachy and tropical.

France, September 2005

I loved everything about France. From the cafe culture to the great cathedrals and castles to the dramatic coastlines to every little rue - j'aime France.

You'll see just how much after reading my travelogues.
Just like Gilligan's Island: Alone in San Pedro

Belize, February 2005

Man, I had the most amazing time on Caye Caulker in Belize. It was a life-changing experience. Life just had a different meaning after spending time on a four-mile island with only 750 or so locals. No cars, no television, no phones... hardly anything that we're used to. But it didn't matter... there was plenty of nothing to do. And that was just fine.
The Grand Canal, Venice

Italy, November 2000

I took a two week trip through Italy with a buddy of mine in 2000 - the first trip out of the country that I have taken as an adult. It was challenging at times with the language barrier and the rain, but it was the best trip I've ever had. I learned a lot about Italy and also about myself. To this day, I think back at this trip whenever I need to feel good about life. THe culture, the art, the food - everything was amazing. Check out my travel pages for more on my trip.
Plaza de Espana, Sevilla

Spain, May 2001

Having been bit by the travel bug, I took a trip alone to Spain. I had more language problems in Southern Spain, but I still had a fantastic time seeing the Moorish architecture of Andalusia. The whole region had beautiful architecture. I'm still building my pages for this region, but check 'em out.

Insane meaning it was something else (in a good way I mean) I hope! Paris? And Tokyo? You sure are having a great travel year! UK was great-too short, but unbelievably we went to visit the Fab Four's hometown-was really fun! Take care!
