"Lebanon" Mohafazat Beyrouth by ben&jerry

First thing I would say is that Lebanon is a safe place but I would not recommend you to go on your own outside the right tracks.
I visited the country accompanied by a person who was born and had lived in the country who spoke arabic, knew how to drive in this jungle and talk to soldiers.
Beyrouth is really beautiful, you can hardly say that war lasted so long.
You cannot go there and not visit Byblos, Bekaa Plain, the Chouf, Beitedine. You musn't leave the country if you haven't tasted the wonderful mezzes.
Night life is also very intense. I did not have the occasion to experience it but Beyrouth has nothing to envy to european big cities.
