From Rome to Munich Temperature shock! We left a sunny, 70 degree F Rome and traveled by train to Munich. They scenery was fabulous: Italy with it's red poppies blooming everywhere and vineyards crammed onto every spare plot of land. The Italian Alps into Austria aslo beautiful. Arrived in Munich 6:30 pm, was raining and cold. Hotel Uhland was lovely, but no heat in room. Hung out in lounge/computer room and drank hot tea before rushing to room and diving under duvet. Next day borrowed bicycles from hotel and rode to train station to make next-day reservations to Amsterdam. Bought thick sweatshirts for warmth, high of 52 degrees F that day. Walked about a bit then cab to Marienplatz. Too cold to hang around for Glockenspiel chime. Huddled in room and to sleep early. Train out 6:00 am. |
