"Uncle Pepe and the Bull" Spain by bambino36

My mother is from the north of Portugal, Valença do Minho, and I grew up there used to see Spain on the other side of the river (Minho). That's why I have a special relation with this country, much more than what the portuguese population in general have... much more like "nuestros hermanos" (our brothers) as usually portuguese refer to spanish...
I still remember the days when we couldn't have TV signal from the portuguese TV and I kept watching the spanish TVE. In fact that had a great advantage: I learned spanish!
Nowadays, of course, I have a different view of Spain... and I love it... they surely know how to party!!

During my life I was several times in Spain. I can't say how many times I went to Vigo or La Guardia or Compostela.
Spain is very contrasting from north to south. Galicia, in the northwest of Spain has almost the same scenery of portuguese Minho. The bigger city is La Coruña, which is my favorite place in the world to go out at night.
Castilla-Leon is far from the sea and the sights are different... Salamanca is a city not to forget in this province.
Andalucia in the south, land of flamenco, sevillanas and bullfight, when compared to Galicia, seems to be in another country. The moorish architectonics is much more present and the weather is much more dry.
Sevilla, Cordoba, and Ronda are perfect examples of it.
Canary Islands are further south, off coast of Africa.. but I only have been in Isla de Gran Canaria
