Hanseatic houses

Gdansk used to be the jewel of the Hanseatic League. In the Old Town it's possible to find the houses of the rich merchats

Long Street and Long Market

Gdansk's Royal Way (Dluga Street and Dlugi Targ) is relatively short (500m) but its name exactly present the climate and architectural and antique ambiance with which one could hand out it to many other cities. The extension of Dluga Street is Dlugi Targ on which stands the symbol of the city: the monument of Neptun.

The Torture Tower

The buildings housing the Jailing Museum were constructed in the Middle Ages as a part of the town's defence system.

Vistula River

Gdansk is an important port, located at the mouth of the Vistula River on the Baltic Sea, and throughout its history has been a major trading centre.

The Grand Mill

It was built around the middle of the 14th century on the Radunia canal. The structure combined three functions: flour mill, granary, and bakery.

St. Catherine's Church

The oldest church of the Old Town was built between 1227-1239.
The year 1945 marked its destruction. Today, this historic structure is fully restored. The 76-metre high church tower supports a fine carillon.

St. Mary's Street (Mariacka)

Probably the most romantic street in Gdansk, and without any doubt one of the most beautiful parts of the city.

Neptune's Fountain

This 17th century statue of Neptune, the king of the seas, represents the essence of Gdansk: a port to the oceans

Artus Court (Dwor Artusa)

This building was named after the mythical British King Arthur. It was founded in 1350, and had a baroque make-over in the 17th century, although nearly all was lost in 1945.
