The streets, the fortifications, the historic documents tell us about the ancient Monção. The houses are well-composed, with a discreet, yet beautiful, architecture.
Connected to the river and to battles against the spanish and the french, today the town offers us the river which is a privilege, the historical center, the gastronomy and the wine... the alvarinho.
History tells us about ancient heroes almost legends...
Nowadays Monção embraced the neighbor Salvaterra do Minho (Galicia)... the eternal enemy turned into the best friend!

So good to see this page! My grandparents live in the village just across the Minho... I have been visiting Monçao since I was a child :). Cheers.
